E3 2015: Games Of The Show

E3 has come and gone, and it left a huge impression on the gaming world. With so many new games announced, and shown for the first time it was hard to not be impressed by a lot of these games. Usually I can pick out one game title that I felt stood above the rest, one title that surprised me and made a lasting impression on me. This year, I was unable to do that. That’s because there were so many amazing titles shown this year.

This year’s E3 brought us a long awaited Final Fantasy VII HD remake, return of The Last Guardian, reveal of a long awaited sequel to Shenmue 2, a new chapter in the Gears franchise, a new world in which dinosaur-like machines rule, an open world Ghost Recon, three eras of warriors to fight as, and many more.

While there were some games we knew of already but weren’t fully shown until E3, they won’t be on this list. For me a Game of the Show should be a game you didn’t see coming, and had no idea existed until the game appeared on the E3 stage. So despite the fact that Fallout 4 was by far the best game shown at E3 I won’t be talking about that. Instead I’ll mention some of the games I felt stole the show for me. In order not to make this too long I’ll only pick my 3 favorites.

One game that came as a surprise to me was the showing of Ghost Recon: Wildlands. This game closed out the Ubisoft press conference. And while the press conference was already amazing, this game made it a complete package. To take the Ghost Recon formula, and make it fresh like this was more than impressive. I like how they made it so the game can be played multiple different ways. Guns blazing ambush, stealth options, or long range tactics. I was already a fan of the Ghost Recon games. I wasn’t expecting this to be a GR game while watching the trailer, but it was very impressive to say the least. After playing multiple Ghost Recon games and from watching the Wildlands gameplay over and over again, needless to say, I am more than excited for this game, and look forward to playing it in 2016

Sony started their press conference very, very, VERY strong with the showing of The Last Guardian. To me it was going to be hard to follow up after that. However they managed to pull it off, by showing the brand new title from Guerilla Studios, Horizon Zero Dawn. The trailer alone had me hooked, but surprising us with gameplay was even better. Because this game looks incredible. The game is set in a future 1,000 years from the present, in which human civilization has collapsed, and that world is dominated by robotic creatures, which have become the strongest creatures in the world. Taking control of the archery hunter Aloy you’ll be re-taking this new land, fighting these machines that look like dinosaurs… dinosaur machines… there is so much to learn about this game. With its interesting story, amazing gameplay, and combat system I look forward to seeing more of this game, hopefully some more information will drop soon.

Last but least Gears of War 4. This actually was a surprise to me. I was not expecting this. I honestly was expecting another spinoff like Gears Of War: Judgment. But we have Gears 4. Strangely enough this didn’t look like a Gears of War game. To me it felt like I was watching an original Resident Evil game. The silent dark atmosphere is interrupted by some form of storm. When inside this building they see this substance everywhere in the building, following a trailer they are attacked by these creatures. While they resemble Locust I’m not sure if they are, or a new form of enemy in general. However what I got from the gameplay is that they are going for more of a horror game vibe. Gonna be weird doing so considering you have a lancer in your possession but either way I am excited for this game, and look forward to getting my hands on it

Those are just a few of my choices. There were a lot of games I would talk about but this article would be way too long for anyone to read. Be sure to check out these games and others as well. I’ll definitely will be on the lookout for them and as soon as more info is available you will hear more from me.
