Fave 2016 Genderbent and Crossplay Shots by FPS

I will always take a photo of a surprising genderbent or crossplay cosplay, and I had plenty of chances in this past year to shoot both. It was tough to pick my fave 2016 genderbent or crossplay images, and I apologize for any that didn’t make this list — that was a lot of pictures to go through.

First though, definitions for those who aren’t clear on which is which.

Genderbent cosplay is when you take a character of a different gender and make it a version that would be what it might look like as the opposite gender. In this gallery goods examples are Red Dahlia Cosplay‘s Kratos or the feature shot, Cassadilla Cosplay‘s Dum-Dum Dugan. Crossplay is when you are one gender but cosplay as accurately as possible someone of another gender. Both the Spikes in this gallery — Mysty Riddler’s Piratanical Cosplays and FergyK — are examples as is the wonderful bearded Eleven from Stranger Things.

Other cosplayers include DolliliciousHarleyBean Cosplay and ConThem CosplayRiveth Cosplay and Photography, Panda of Wicked Geeky, Khepera CosplayElegant Valkyrie, MattsmashSerenity Lockhart and Tito Midnight, and more.
