In Southeastern Massachusetts there is one of the longest-running free-standing renaissance faires in the Northeast, King Richard’s Faire. Running from beginning of September through Columbus Day weekend each year, this year it held the second annual Game of Thrones Cosplay Contest and Trivia Contest on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The two challenges are sponsored by and run by game company Disruptor Beam, the maker of Game of Thrones Ascent. The draw of the contests is already so great that I can personally attest to it creating the worst traffic and largest crowd I have ever seen at the faire, in my decade-plus of attending.

Below is the gallery of shots I took while there, including the cosplay contest winner, Linda, as a spot-on Catelyn Stark (with — SPOILER — disturbingly freshly sliced throat). Alas, I did not get the name of the winner of the trivia contest, but he is the gentleman with his hand being raised, in the Stark direwolf t-shirt.

Acting as one of the judges for the cosplay contest was Mini Mal Cosplay, who won last year as Tyrion Lannister.

Sprinkled among the shots are many well-known New England-based cosplayers, including Bellechere, who were there with all of us to help celebrate with birthday girl Bethany Maddock.
