‘Killer Instinct’ Arbiter Trailer Nails The ‘Halo’ Experience

Killer Instinct Season 3 is looking great at the moment, with its system changes, balance updates, new moves and abilities for all its cast, graphical improvements to the game, and even guest characters. I still can’t believe we have Rash of the Battletoads included in this game. His move set reminds me so much of the Battletoads game and Iron Galaxy spent a great deal of attention to detail to make him look accurate and like the character in his own game.

Which is why seeing the Arbiter from Halo 2 in KI honestly has me insanely excited.

I was shocked to see the Arbiter teased in this game. I was not expecting to see yet another guest character in this game. It’s good to see that the team of Iron Galaxy is really going all out for this game. Arbiter plays in a way I was not expecting. Drawing the Covenant energy sword, Arbiter gives his opposition a run for their money, as he is not only strong but fast. He towers over Thunder in the trailer and overpowers him greatly. From his strikes of the energy sword, to cloaking, to using a Covenant Rifle to combo, and even my favorite, using Plasma Grenades.

Another great thing about the trailer is the stage. While Kim Wu’s South Korean back alley was a pretty good stage, Arbiter’s stage is a full on Halo war zone. It is a combat fanboy’s dream seeing Elite shooting in the background, as well as ancient pillars of Elites, fallen Covenant troops and even when the Ultra Combo is being dished out, all hell breaks loses. As Banshees come crashing in, the Scarab comes busting into the ruins only to fall and explode. This attention to detail is so great that I can’t help but applaud Iron Galaxy for what they have done. Arbiter is looking really good at the moment, and I can’t wait to play as him.

When it comes to more characters for the game, Tusk has already been confirmed — and the Arbiter trailer gives us a tease of the heavily tatted barbarian at the end — and that is the only remaining KI original character left, besides Eyedol and Gargos. I do look forward to seeing new characters, however. I can’t help but get excited thinking of what Iron Galaxy is going to cook up next.

  1. It’s interesting to see the Arbiter coming back into the gaming world, let alone in a fighting game. Glad to see they’re taking full advantage of the Covenant tech as far as his move set goes. Thanks for sharing.
