PAX East 2025 Friday Gallery Part 2 of 4

While I was pretty busy all-day Friday at PAX East, our roommates in Room 106, the cosplay repair team from GiveWave Studios, was going nearly nonstop. In fact, I would guess that about 15 percent of my photos over the course of last weekend wouldn’t have happened if not for seeing cosplayers come in for repairs and grabbing them for photos afterward. How talented is Castro and his team? In addition to supplying safety pins and contact cement, they even went so far as mixing two-part epoxy to weld 3D-printed parts back together and Castro even fixed one cosplayer’s electric guitar. Let’s see Guitar Center try to restyle a wilting wig.

I was so busy Friday I neglected to get anything for lunch, but that wasn’t really a problem. Manny had brought me coffee and a bagel sandwich from Dunkin Donuts before we opened at 10 a.m., and I somehow planned ahead and brought with me plenty of snacks — healthy ones too, like raisins, granola bars and oatmeal cookies (OK, the cookies were oatmeal creme cookie sandwiches, sue me). Plus, I wasn’t in any hurry to replicate Thursday’s lunch experience. I asked Manny to get me a burrito from the Mexican food section of the food court just up the hallway from our room, and it turns out they no longer actually wrap burritos, despite the word “burrito” in block letters affixed to the station just above where you order. The resulting burrito bowl was disappointing.

In this gallery you can start to see the popularity of the game Marvel Rivals, with cosplay from the game throughout. That trend will continue strongly into Saturday’s galleries. And while the galleries also show how much of a general nerd culture convention PAX East is and has always been, this gallery is very heavy on game character cosplay, from Pokémon to Fallout to Silent Hill and more.
