PAX East 2025 Saturday Gallery Part 3 of 6
Around noon on Saturday at PAX East 2025 I somehow managed to have enough time in between shots to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in years. She was actually working a vendor booth on the show floor and stopped by on her lunch break. Unfortunately for me, who hadn’t had anything but a pastry to eat all day, she came by with her lunch, a box of mac ‘n cheese with pulled pork from one of the show floor food trucks. I managed to keep my drool off my camera.
This gallery is full of Final Fantasy cosplay, because the Final Fantasy Cosplay Meetup was one of the four on Saturday. There isn’t any other property so well represented, except for Helldiver. Every day that weekend I took photos of Helldivers. But what got me really jazzed was the cosplayers of Nimona and Ballister from the 2023 Netflix movie Nimona. They did a fantastic job capturing the feel of the movie’s characters.
If there was one downside to how powerful the Westcott lights were, as I mentioned before, it was that they completely overpowered any LEDs. In this gallery, that means you can’t see that the cape on the Blood Torva armor from Old School Runescape is basically one entire flexible LED screen. It was amazing to watch, and I wish you get a chance to see it at a con someday.
To continue the tale of our unsecure security doors, we finally had a security supervisor show up and he spent a solid 15 minutes trying to get the door to lock the way it was supposed to. Finally, he came over to my table and said the lock mechanism was broken and he had just placed a work order. Hopefully, I asked if it would be fixed that day and he politely but bluntly said “No way.” He was very apologetic about the problem, and at least now we knew there was no choice but to cart the gear away to a lockable room.
