Last year animated movies dominated the box office worldwide, with three of the top four biggest hits (Ne Zha 2, Zootopia 2, A Minecraft Movie) bringing in a total of more than $4 billion. If you counted the heavily animated live action remake of Lilo & Stitch, animation would hold all four top spots.

So much for the argument that “big spectacle” movies are the only type that put butts into seats these days.
