Crypt of the NecroDancer DLC Powers Up Already Great Game

Welcome to Indie Spotlight! Almost two years ago, I raved about one of the coolest rhythm games on the market. Today, it’s time to AMPLIFY your interest with a new update — Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED!

Hail, bat warrior!

Hail, bat warrior!

AMPLIFIED is the first full DLC added to this insanely fun dungeon crawling dance party. As the star of the show, allow me to introduce you to Nocturna!

Nocturna is the newest addition to the adventurer lineup. She comes from a clan of batfolk, whose elders believe she is too young and inexperienced to investigate these dungeons. The fact that she’s already dead gives her all the reason she needs to defy them and take on the underground mysteries.

In normal form, Nocturna is pretty vanilla — she has no special game rules, like Cadence (though her default weapon is easily one of the strongest in the game). Her special twist is that she can morph into bat form at will! In this form, your damage is quadrupled and you’ll regain health every few kills, but your items are essentially turned off and you’ll take damage when you transform back. You automatically become a bat when receiving near-fatal damage — quite the survival mechanism!

Alongside Nocturna, AMPLIFIED adds a slew of new items to your catalog, enemies even more unique than before, and a brand new Zone 5. This Zone can be played individually like the others, and in here you’ll get to mess around with electrified paths that AMPLIFY your attacks (get it now?). The coolest part is that Zone 5 throws itself into all other Zones — so you can be traveling through the Zone 2 forest and randomly come by a Zone 5 rave site.

In bat mode, you gain vision of all enemies, too!

Last but certainly not least, a new challenger has appeared — Fortissimole! This new boss fight introduces a shades-wearing rook-looking tunneler that RAPS. This is all part of the new music tracks that come with the package — check them out here!

The best part of all this? AMPLIFIED is still just in Early Access, which means we may very well get even more content once it has officially released. I guarantee you what’s already there is well worth the upgrade. Get yours today!
