Anime Boston 2025 Cosplay Gallery Friday Part 1 of 4

Just two weekends after PAX East this year, I was back at it again, this time at Anime Boston 2025. As with every one of the past 10 years, we had a table in Community Row, the space the convention gives at no cost for other conventions and community groups to promote themselves. OK, in 2022 and 2023 when I was helping manage Anime Boston’s photo department the table was barely staffed, but we did officially have one.

This year Anime Boston decided to expand the Community Row from only in the hallway outside the showroom of Hall A and Hall B to the 2nd floor hallway outside Hall C and Hall D. Also new this year was how we got our table choices. In the past it was “first come, first served” with no assigned tables. This year the convention decided to assign tables, taking into account requests for neighbors and such. Since I asked to be placed at the end of any of the sections, they gave us the first table in the upper hallway as you came in from the rotunda. Awesome spot and super easy to get cosplayers in behind the table to shoot them against the red wall.

While the Dealer’s Room didn’t open until 11 a.m. Friday I was ready to go by 10 and already had cosplayers waiting. All told, I shot more photos on this Friday than any other Friday of Anime Boston. There were some small problems with the new location on the 2nd floor — we’ll get to those in later posts — but traffic wasn’t one of them.

My Lyft driver on Friday morning turned out to be a fishing fan, so that was our topic of conversation for the first half of the trip. Then in response to seeing the smiley face button from Ed in Cowboy Bebop that I wear on my photo vest, he asked if I liked anime. Well, that was the rest of the trip’s topic. Kudos to Jorge for pointing out cosplayers near the Hynes Convention Center of Naruto characters I’ve never even heard of.
