The Commonwealth of Massachusetts may have to revoke both my and Manny’s drivers licenses because it took until Sunday morning for us to look up Dunkin Donuts locations while we were at PAX Unplugged. It turns out the closest one is just around the corner from the N. 12th Street entrance of our hotel, The Marriott Downtown Philadelphia — at most a two-minute walk from the elevators down from our room.

Given how my expectations for Saturday for numbers of photos weren’t met, I adjusted my expectations for Sunday to be somewhat less than the 100 photos I took on Friday. As it turns out, the final total for Sunday was about half that. Sunday is typically the slowest day of any multi-day convention, but for a con the size of PAX Unplugged, I was quite surprised. As I mentioned in a previous post, our location didn’t help us with gathering foot traffic.

I addition, some cosplayers seemed confused about whether not we were an official function of the convention (we were) and if we charged for the photos (we don’t). For next year, we’ll make some changes to how we are described on the website and in the PAX Nav app, to hopefully clear up any further confusion.

Adam was only with us for Saturday, so Sunday lunch was just me and Manny. He found an amazing place in Reading Terminal Market called The Original Turkey that specializes in roast turkey sandwiches. I was in awe of the massive deli-scale turkey on rye I got, with slices easily a quarter-inch thick. Then Manny showed me his Thanksgiving dinner sub, and I got very envious.

Packing up our rental studio gear from LensProToGo this time was much easier than at PAX East, despite the fact that we had an additional bit of gear in a backdrop stand (I used mine at PAX East). That was partly due to me being more organized about both set up and tear down than last time, but also to Enforcer Manager Anon and his awesome team of Enforcers helping out at every step. We were all done in less than 30 minutes.

Next year PAX Unplugged moves back to early December, scheduled for Dec. 4-6, 2026. You can bet we’ll be back — if for no other reason than to try out more food options in Reading Terminal Market.

Among the cosplayers in this final PAX Unplugged 20205 gallery are summerheidtwrites, missnikkimuffin, gammaliz, emma_zonn_prime, quikcosplay, authenticallyanais, creaturecobbler, jellyrohde, asc_jkenn, and many more.
