PAX Unplugged 2025 TTRPG And Beyond Meetup Gallery
The second of two scheduled cosplay meetups on Saturday afternoon at PAX Unplugged was an open-tent event called TTRPG and Beyond. Like they did with the Dimension 20 Meetup, our founder Manny, and Adam of gamesNgirls went to cover it, getting video that will be on our YouTube channel in a few weeks, and the gallery linked below.
How open was that tent? While you’ll see plenty of cosplayers from Critical Role and other D&D “actual play” shows, you will also see many original characters from tabletop RPG campaigns. Even more “open,” you’ll see cosplayers from video games such as Portal and Hollow Knight and even a Team Rocket pair from Pokémon.
Given that the name shows that anyone in costume could show up for the meetup, you might expect a huge turnout. But this gallery shows the numbers were about double those of the single-source meetup for Dimension 20 — more, but not huge. One reason for that may be what I touched on in a previous article — the branding of the meetups as “cosplay” events. There is a huge Live Action Role Play presence at PAX Unplugged and many of those folks are not fond of being called cosplayers, despite that fact they are actually doing “costumed play,” the words that make up the portmanteau “cosplay.” Perhaps by doing some rebranding of the meetups, next year Pax Unplugged could have more than just a couple of meetups.
Running the TTRPG and Beyond meetup was Kate the Great Cosplays, an experienced cosplay event host. She gave our studio a shout out at the end of the meetup, which led to a couple of cosplayers making their way down to our location for studio shots.
Among the cosplayers in this last meetup gallery are saephyredragon, ancientoceancraftsandcosplay, sunny_daze_cosplay, heavenlysaturncosplay, ber_lin_dsey, jessheartscosplay, jellyrohde, sroby25, and many more.
