The next two galleries from Saturday at PAX East 2026 are all photos shot by me — in this one, taken in between bites of the pizza that David got for the studio team in Room 207. Should one eat pepperoni pizza while handling expensive camera gear? No, but that’s why napkins were invented.

Saturday late afternoon was when yet another two cosplay friends I haven’t seen in years stopped by. First was Adam, who I haven’t seen in more than a decade. He is one of the pair of Squirtle Squad cosplayers early in the gallery. The second was Jaq, the first of the two Ada Wong cosplayers later in the gallery, I haven’t seen Jaq since 2019, and it was great seeing her again. If only I had more time to chat with either of them, but while the line of waiting cosplayers shortened from the highs of earlier in the day. it was still constant.

At some point in this gallery, we had to swap the battery packs on the Westcott J400 II strobes for a second time that day. We had already done it once, and luckily the battery packs charge up to full pretty quickly using their own dedicated charging blocks. In comparison, we only swapped batteries once on Friday, but they were so close to being depleted by the end of the day that we swapped them to be ready for Saturday. We took that many more photos on Saturday.

Why use battery powered strobe lights? When we first planned this out last year, we decided that it made more sense renting spare batteries than worrying about running extension cords, what with concerns over tripping and MCEC union rules.
