Though the show floor closed at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Rhode Island Anime Con 2025, Kevin and I decided to head back north by 5 to beat most Saturday evening traffic. The band of heavy rain that rolled in around 4:45 disagreed. We decided to wait it out until it lessened, which was about 5:30. Mind you, it was still raining when we left, but just a standard light rain and not the straight downpour of earlier.

I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the crowd attending this relatively new convention. Getting two solid 80+ image galleries is a good day at any convention that isn’t run by an international corporation (Fan Expo Boston) or has been doing its thing for more than two decades (Anime Boston). Because of the relatively small size compared to its older sister convention Rhode Island Comic Con (both put on by Altered Reality Entertainment) the Rhode Island Convention Center seemed way less crowded, and the overall vibe therefore seemed much more chill.

Speaking of the convention center, the one negative I experienced all day was upon entering I was reminded that the RICC doesn’t allow any outside food or drink at all. I had a couple of Kind bars and a pack of pop-tarts in my backpack, and they and the bottle of water were both confiscated. Serious dick move by the convention center, just so it can force its overpriced concession food on attendees.
