Colossalcon East 2025 Cosplay Gallery Part 3
We now come to my third and final article and photo gallery from Colossalcon East 2025 (or my fifth of each, if we’re counting my content from the photoshoot/meetups I hosted at the convention). As I’ve written about most of what I wanted to in my other articles, I’ll finish things up here with some random odds and ends I’d like to touch upon.
I always like to log the weather during Colossalcon East for historical purposes, so I’ll get that out of the way first. Thursday was partly cloudy with a high of 74 degrees. On Friday we had a small bit of rain in the early hours, with clear skies the rest of the day, and a high of 76 degrees. On Saturday we had some rain throughout the day, clearing up in the evening hours, with a high of 74. On Sunday it was partly cloudy with a high of 71 degrees. Although it certainly could have been worse, the weather during this convention just seems absolutely cursed sometimes. There was nearly perfect weather all week in the area up until the convention started on Thursday, when the forecast started getting really dodgy. This was practically a rerun of what happened last year.
The outdoor waterpark was open on Friday and Sunday this year. On Saturday it was open for a short while in the morning before it was closed due to potential thunderstorms in the forecast for the area. I ended up spending maybe an hour or so taking photos out there on Friday and managed to get a few photos out there early Saturday as well before it closed. As I said earlier, the weather certainly could have been worse, and I thought the same thing that I thought to myself last year, that “one outta two ain’t so bad.”
Colossalcon East is a four-day convention, so it might seem a bit odd that I would say “one outta two.” Everyone enjoys the convention in different ways, but for my purposes (which first and foremost is taking cosplay photos), it really feels like a two-day event. On Thursday many people are still filing in, and the volume of people in cosplay just isn’t anywhere near the levels they get to on Friday and Saturday. That being the case, I would absolutely love to be able to check out the dealer’s hall and artist alley on Thursday. Sadly, those areas are not open on Thursday, and I’m not quite sure why. Due to that, I find myself with not a whole lot to do on Thursday. On Sunday, many attendees are packing up and hitting the road for their long trip home early in the day. Knowing that would be the case, on Sunday I decided to hit the waterpark and relax in the hot tub (which I have to say felt fucking amazing) before it was time for me to start my journey back to New Jersey.
Yes, most of the photos I took were at the waterpark once again this year. Didn’t you read my previous article mentioning attendee’s complaints about people taking photos in the middle of convention aisles, which impeded foot traffic? Yet another reason for me to take photos at the waterpark. I don’t think anyone has called me a hero for doing so, but maybe people should start. If you’ve actually read this far and agree, message “HERO” to me at my personal Instagram @gamesngirls. You’re welcome, convention attendees and staff!
I say that with some amount of jest, but as I mentioned last year, the waterpark is a big part of what makes Colossalcon East unique, and is just a great place for photos for a number of reasons, so I’m gonna lean into that. Colossalcon East has a ton of other fun activities and events, and I went into detail about many of those in my first article on the convention. Anyone that knows me personally knows that I am very humble, and rarely boast about anything I do. But if I may “toot my own horn” for a brief moment, I can confidently say I’ve had a positive impact on the convention. I’ve hosted meetups every year, taken the time to write up reasonably well thought out articles covering many aspects of the convention, and taken hundreds of photos, being sure to credit as many cosplayers as possible. I will and have criticized the convention when I felt it was warranted, but thankfully I haven’t found much to complain about the past couple of years. Let’s just not have another 2023 ever again. Yeah, my gums are still bleeding from that year. Give me a couple more amazing years at Colossalcon East, and I think I’ll start singing praises as loud as I did when the convention first launched.
That’s gonna wrap up my coverage of Colossalcon East 2025. See ya next year!
