Anime Boston 2022 Saturday Cosplay Gallery
Strap in folks, this is a big gallery.
There are more than 1,200 images in this Saturday gallery from the Cosplay Studio Suite of Anime Boston 2022. Normally, this would be broken up into probably seven or eight galleries, but as I mentioned in the Friday gallery post, Anime Boston posts images as a single gallery per day. So, that is how will do as part of our partnership in which I ran the Photo Dept. this year.
As I have found out from some comments on the Friday gallery post, probably a couple of hundred photos in this gallery are actually from Friday. It seems at least one memory card had an incorrect date (which is a non-accusatory way of saying I entered the wrong date on one camera when setting up the rental Sony a7Riii bodies we rented from LensProToGo). My apologies to those people whose photos we took on Friday that have to scroll through more than 1,000 photos to find theirs.
With numbers like that, you can imagine (or experienced yourself) just how crazy busy it was on Saturday. To everyone who said in posts or messages that they were impressed by how smoothly the studio suite ran on Saturday, thank you very much. But it was barely organized chaos, and on Sunday we tested out a numbering system that Photo Dept. Assistant Manager Serena had suggested before covid shut down the cons of 2020 and 2021. That worked well and we will be using it every day next year.
I did take some photos in this huge gallery, but most were taken by Photo Dept. Staff volunteers, primarily Christopher Wan (boston_film) and Crystal Rhee (crypto.nite). Other photographers on staff that stepped in to take photos so the primary studio photographers could take breaks included Erza Setsuna Inverse of Shinakophoto, Ji Hong (ji_money_), and Photo Dept. Assistant Manager Serena Senecal (RoguePh0enix13).

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free. These photos are the same size we always post — 1600 pixels in the long dimension at 72dpi. If you want the much higher resolution images (3500 pixels at 300dpi) those will be posted to the Anime Boston galleries starting in a bit more than a week.

all of these photos are amazing! they came out great. thank you so much for letting us show up a second time with another friend after we already came before without her. a couple of questions: would the other photos be available (the jujutsu kaisen group of maki, yuuta, and gojo (no nobara yet))? and also i’m not sure if you’re the same group but i had a photo taken of me on the 3rd floor at some point during the day by a person with a press badge, is that connected to nerdcaliber? if so, i’m assuming it might show up on the official AB gallery when it’s posted? thanks again for this opportunity, and great work!
amazing photos! they all came out great! a couple of questions: my group showed up with gojo, maki and yuuta and got a few pictures taken, then came later when our nobara was able to make it. would the first set of photos be anywhere? i understand you had a high volume of photos so deleting duplicate groups makes sense.
also, was nerdcaliber doing some impromptu shots on the third floor hall along the window on saturday? i had a picture taken of me by someone with a “press” badge and i was wondering where it would be.

We had no photographers on our Nerd Caliber press team this year, so that 3rd floor photo wasn’t from us, sorry. And I’m not sure what you are asking about another group. Do you mean, the same three just without a Gojo?

I do remember seeing you come into the studio as Violet, but I don’t see the photos for Saturday or Sunday, even checking the direct downloads from the cameras. Over the course of the next week, I will go back though all the memory cards and see if I missed a block of cosplay studio photos.

My Leaf pictures were taken at 4:49pm on May 27th.
For the Reisalin cosplay, I actually had someone working in the studio come up to me while I was sitting in the Hynes, and asked me to come get my picture taken there after complimenting my cosplay.
I don’t remember the exact time for Reisalin, but I want to estimate it was somewhere roughly around 1:30pm. The person who asked me to come get my picture done approached me roughly around 1:10pm or so.
I found myself in the Friday photoset but it looks like my Saturday pictures aren’t showing up. I was wearing a lolita-inspired Korok from BOTW. I think it might have also been in the early afternoon on Saturday.

I was cosplaying a genderbent Zagreus (I see another one here but that’s not me) and my friend who I also do not see here was cosplaying goblin slayer. We took both groups and individual pictures directly after the Virgil cosplay I see in the gallery. I hope this photos can be found!

Hey there, My friend and I had our photos taken at the cosplay photo suite on Friday, in the afternoon anytime between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm (sorry I can’t stamp out a more accurate time frame). I was Keqing (Genshin Impact) with a blue and gold sword and my friend was Honoka (Love Live) with a pair of orange LED wings, but we can’t seem to locate our photos in this album or on Fridays – not sure if these were missed in the larger albums.
sorry i’m not getting back to you until now! our group came to get pictures twice and the first time it was just maki, yuuta and gojo and the second time we came back with a nobara. i was wondering if the first set of pictures would be available.
i’ll have to contact AB staff and see if they know who might’ve taken my picture then. thanks! i guess this is a lesson in asking for contact after haha.
Hi, I cosplayed Dancer Dorothea from Fire Emblem Three Houses in the masquerade, my photos were on Friday night at I believe 6:50 or so, and my photos aren’t in either gallery.
Hey not seeing the pictures my group had taken on Friday in the Friday or Saturday albums. I was with two other people and we were cosplaying Bendy and the Ink Machine. Is it possible some photos didn’t make the cut? Was hoping to get some pictures cuz I’m retiring the cosplay. I believe we had our pictures taken around 3pm, I believe it was on the 2nd floor but I can’t remember.. I was handed a Nerd Caliber business card afterwards.

Rayne, we didn’t have anybody on the Nerd Caliber press team taking photos. All the photos that will go on our site are from the Cosplay Studio in Room 102. I’m looking into what the confusion might have been.
I found the missing Saturday block of photos. Bayonetta, Violet Evergarden, Reisalin, etc. They will be added to the gallery tomorrow morning. It takes a few hours to go through the entire editing process. Sorry for the confusion. I hope I can find the Friday photos as easily.
There should be a femme Gon and Killua somewhere that you might be missing! I don’t know what time we came in but there is definitely a picture of Gon (me) on Killuas back! Just lmk if you find them somewhere I would really love the pictures! There’s also 2 or 3 solo Gon pictures.
Its possible it was the first floor, I just noticed one of the business cards says floor 102, a man ushered us into the room, there were chairs against the wall with the door and then two areas in the room that photos were being taken by two different photographers, we were with the photographer on the left but I also don’t see pictures of the person who entered at the same time as us who got theirs taken on the right. I believe the area was separated by a partition. When we left we were each handed 2 business cards, one for Nerd Caliber Press and one for Anime Boston and we were told they’d show up on the Nerd Caliber website first. It was between 3pm and 4pm on Friday. Hope this helps!

Hello! Me and my groupmate got our Masquerade photos taken Friday night. I know that the date was messed up on a couple cameras so I get it and I will gladly wait to see if they happen to show up in Sunday’s gallery but I am seeing that a majority of other Masquerade participants already have their photos posted so I’m getting a bit worried. We were the Gigantimax Alcremie and Gloria combo. Sorry for the trouble!
They were actually Friday photos not Saturday, taken around 3pm at the same time as the picture I linked previously but by the other photographer and camera. They were not in the missing Saturday photos you just out up. Here’s what we were wearing.

Hi Rodney, I see that you’re trying to find the missing photos from Friday, but I just want to note that many of us were from the masquerade and were in the suite in the evening, not mid-day, so you may be missing a larger block than you think? I really hope they can be found as they were the only real photos many of us had taken of our competition cosplays…
