In early September, management of Another Anime Convention (AAC) reached out to us to see if we would like to do for that convention what we’ve done this year for PopCult Anime Con and PAX East — set up our portable studio to function as the official cosplay studio for the con. After a few quick email exchanges to pin down exact details of what would be expected from each side, we said yes.

So, Friday morning I made my way to the Westford Regency in Westford, Mass., and set up my studio backdrop and lighting in the Photo Suite, which was, in fact a suite and not a panel room. The Westford Regency has a few large suites. The biggest, which were used for the staff Green Room and Snacks Room, were on the second floor and had completely separate bedrooms. The one I was in on the third floor had a half wall separating the living room space and the beds. That living space, once the furniture was moved into the bedroom space, had plenty of room for two backdrops.

Despite information about us hosting a Photo Suite and its location being on the AAC website, and the fact we promoted it on all of our social media platforms, very few attendees seemed it be aware it even existed. So Friday was very slow and this gallery is only a few pics more than 60 images.

The other two functions in the suites on the third floor — the Masquerade Craftsmanship judging and the Manga Reading Room — each had a riser banner just outside the doors. We were supposed to have one, but it was delayed in shipping and would have arrived, well, today. A bit too late for the convention. By Saturday morning a paper sign had been printed up and was taped to the nameplate of the suite, and that did get more people to stop and look at what was happening in the room.
