Another Anime Convention 2026, Saturday Part 1
Friday night I managed to stay awake until about 10 p.m. then slept like a log. Saturday morning at Another Anime Convention 2026 I was up and ready early. I went to the Green Room for some breakfast, but it was crowded and while I was waiting someone spilled coffee on someone else’s skirt, so I grabbed a packaged snack cake and hightailed it out of there.
While I didn’t have the same crazy busy first hour I had on Friday, I did get a good steady flow of cosplayers, both friends coming by for more photos and passers by I called out to. But things really got wild when animesuckx and friends showed up, with them pushing her around as Sadako from the movie The Ring, inside a real old-fashioned TV cabinet. If you’re reading this, you’ve already seen one of the awesome photos we made, as it is the featured photo for the article.
All told, I will have four 90ish image galleries from Saturday. As I mentioned in my last article, I think that increased number from the previous year is due, in part, to an increased attendance. I’ve already noted that it was the 20th anniversary for AAC, but I think some of that increase was due to the closure last year of PopCult Anime Con. While I don’t have any direct confirmation of that, when I was tagging people for our social media blasts, I noticed some cosplayers who I have only ever photographed at PopCult. Since that now closed convention was also held in August, it would make sense for those cosplayers to try to find a new con for the month.
After getting photos and giving me a quick break, animesuckx and her friends went off to scare little children (and more than a few adults). While I was headed to my break, I ran into my friend and fellow cosplay photographer Anthony of flashcordphoto and his adorable daughter (who he insists I’ve met once before but the old man brain couldn’t recall). As always it was great chatting with him, and as always he proved invaluable in calling out to a few cosplayers whose characters I couldn’t identify. Anthony’s weeb knowledge nearly perfectly complement’s my own.
