While Thursday is officially the first day for Dragon Con, Friday is the first day that you can count on mostly everyone coming will be there and out in their cosplay (if they cosplay) before nighttime. Friday is also the first day that the large group meetups and photo shoots kick off in earnest. The steps outside in the back of the Hilton are filled for almost the entire day with an ever-changing crowd of cosplayers, sometimes enough to not only fill up the largest set of steps with well more than 100 cosplayers, but sometimes requiring multiple sets of hundreds to rotate in and out.
