Fan Expo Philadelphia 2022 Cosplay Gallery Part 2
My second, and final set of photos from Fan Expo Philadelphia 2022 were taken during the second half of the day on Saturday, and throughout the day on Sunday at the event.
Fan Expo definitely did more things with cosplayers specifically in mind than Wizard World had in years past. First off, Fan Expo featured a handful of cosplay guests including DJ Croft, Shannon Noelle Cosplay, Cin Von Quinzel, Luckygrim, and LeeLeeTheBunny Cosplay.
There was also an event for cosplayers which was simply called the “Cosplay Red Carpet.” Cosplayers lined up to strut their stuff and pose for photos on the red carpet at a scheduled time on each day of the convention (twice on Saturday). I hadn’t heard of anything quite like this before, and when I had read about it on the Fan Expo website, I wasn’t sure how much interest there would be for it. These events turned out to be wildly popular, with cosplayers lined up almost as far as my old eyes could see during the Saturday events. Kudos to Fan Expo for thinking a bit outside of the box, and coming up with this idea for a casual, non-competitive event, which delighted cosplayers and fans alike. (Ed. A number of cosplay meetups and photoshoots were on the schedule for the event as well. You will see some photos from the Genshin Impact meetup that I attended in the set of photos linked on this page. Unfortunately, there was confusion as to where these meetups were being held, as the location that was listed on the schedule (“cosplay photo park”) was not listed on the floor plan. It was not until Saturday that I realized this location was the same spot where the cosplay red carpet was. I’d like to see convention management do a bit more to promote these cosplay meetups in the future.
