GraniteCon 2018 Cosplay Gallery by FirstPerson Shooter, Saturday Part 1

The two-day convention Granite State Comicon this year had to move to an earlier weekend than normal because of renovation work being done to the hotel in Manchester, NH, that has long been its home. That landed it on the same weekend as ColossalCon East and there is no question that it had an effect on crowd sizes. That said, I shot enough photos to match the number of galleries I posted last year — four from Saturday and three from Sunday.

One of the biggest celebrity draws this year was the actor Doug Jones (The Shape of Water, Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, etc., etc.). While I was constantly told stories of what a nice person he is by those who met him and got his autograph (and some very funny photos) I am still surprised that I didn’t see very much cosplay from his movies. I can understand why — he is almost always in makeup that would talk a very good cosplayer probably a year to craft.

Another big draw was the comic book artist Simon Bisley. In this gallery you can see two characters from a comic he is famous for, 2000 A.D. Judge Fear and Judge Death from the Judge Dredd series are here in all their spookiness.

But the biggest attraction for cosplayers seems to have been the muppet pair of Carrol Spinney and Steve Whitmire. In this gallery alone you have cosplay from Fraggle Rock and The Dark Crystal.

Cosplayers in this first of four Saturday galleries include DeathbycosplayPunished CosplayschwarztkdBlack Cat Comics CosplayBlossoming CosplaySamantha Young CosplayspiritoffirecosplayWest Street Studios (twice, as the Phantom of Paradise and as Judge Death), catsinabelfryBombeii Cosplay and PhotographyColen P CosplayCosplay DadMiss Kits CosplayLuvlee Lyddie’s CosplayMagic and Pop CultureChelsea Von Chastity CosplaychartotcosplayJ. Jester cosplay, and many more.
