MegaCon 2022 Masters of Cosplay Contest by Wonderllama Photo

After the hard work, the blood sweat and tears, the pre-judging, and the waiting … the MegaCon Orlando 2022 Masters of Cosplay Sunshine Qualifier finally took place on the big stage at the Orange County Convention Center on Saturday evening. Contestants had a chance to strut their stuff on stage and pose for fans, friends, family, photographers, and local media.

With the “4 Hobbits” event — featuring Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Peregrin Took), and Dominic Monaghan (Meriadoc Brandybuck) — scheduled in the same room immediately afterward, contest runners Pat Covey and Freddy Friedrich pulled off the semi-impossible and ran the contest in a brisk 50 minutes. The winners were truly impressive, with astounding cosplays that represented the best craftsmanship and creativity in the southeast.
