MegaCon 2024 Th-Fri Cosplay Gallery By Cantera Image
As he was last year, Manny of Cantera Image, was our hall cosplay photographer for MegaCon in Orlando. Held Feb 1-4 this year, and as always at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, MegaCon is one of the biggest nerd conventions on the East Coast.
Native New Englander Manny has been a Florida resident for years, so he no longer gets the benefit that made MegaCon one of the most attractive cons when I used to go — leaving frozen New England for much warmer climes. The only thing bad about holding MegaCon in mid or late Winter is having to come back to the frigid Northeast.
Since FanExpo bought MegaCon in 2015, the already impressive number and quality of cosplay has grown, now that it is the first qualifying event in FanExpo’s overall multi-convention Masters of Cosplay contest — technically called the Sunshine Qualifier for the Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix. This year, due to unfortunate circumstances, we weren’t able to supply the contest with our usual contestant photographer, so we won’t have any of those galleries for you. Luckily, Manny was very keen to return and get hall photos of cosplayers for us, and we will have three galleries from him.
We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
