PAX East 2022 Gallery By FirstPerson Shooter Saturday Part 3
I spent the latter third of Saturday both taking more photos of awesome cosplayers at PAX East 2022 and doing final prep work for our panel at 7:30 p.m. The Cosplay And Photography Shoot-Out is a participatory panel first conceived by Gregg of Wonderllama Photography at GraniteCon in Manchester, NH. Since then we have run the panel successfully at New York Comic Con and PAX East multiple times, as well as other, smaller conventions. You will be able to see the 10 images our participating teams created in a gallery post soon, so stay tuned.
It wasn’t all rushing around on Saturday afternoon, though. I did manage to get a few moments to escape to the designated mask-off eating area not far from where we were set up, to enjoy a couple of the excellent empanadas from the food truck Nuchas, which was one of a handful of food trucks located on the show room floor.
Ah yes, the designated eating areas. If you are familiar with my photos from previous PAX East events, you may notice that while the location looks similar to those older galleries, something is different. That’s because the BCEC removed the low table and comfy chairs in the space in front of the elevator banks — a table and chairs which we normally use. So the photos from this year have people standing exactly where the tables and chairs would have been.
I don’t know for sure, but my guess is that they were removed to prevent people from sitting there and eating, forcing them to use the official designated eating areas, which were the only places in the convention center that taking masks off was allowed. And while I did use the designated eating areas for actual meals, I may have snuck a Reese’s peanut butter cup or two under my mask while at our work set up space.
