PopCult Anime Con 2023 Saturday Gallery Part 2
PopCult Anime Con is, as the name suggests, both an anime convention and a popular culture event. While the theme for this year’s event, “Journey Into Isekai,” made it clear that anime is the primary focus, all kinds of fandom is represented. Case in point are the two photos in this article. The featured image is of cosplayers from the anime The Promised Neverland (Season 1 – we pretend Season 2 never happened). The linked image below is of cosplayers from the Batman comic universe. Also in the gallery are people cosplaying from videogames, current movies and animated TV comedies.
Another thing you may noticed in the two images is that fact that some people are wearing masks and some aren’t. PopCult Anime Con had a mask requirement in any convention function room but couldn’t enforce that policy in the hotel’s public areas. While the vast majority of attendees kept their masks on nearly all the time, I gave them the option to take them off for the photos if they wanted to, since I was set up in one of the hotel lobby areas. I kept my mask on except when eating or drinking, to show support for the con’s mask policy. Well, except for early Saturday morning, when it was so muggy I was fogging up my camera’s viewfinder on every shot.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
