Summer Cosplay Contest Series June Winners!

With the lockdown on large events not looking like it will lift in the U.S. for many months, Nerd Caliber and the hardest working contest manager in the con biz, Pat “The Covinator” Covey teamed up to launch the Summer Cosplay Contest Series!

Three contests and a finals over three months, all held online, streamed live on The Covinator’s Twitch channel and our YouTube channel. June 28th, July 25th and August 22 will be qualifier contests for the finals held right after the August qualifier. Prizes will be given out for the top two winners, and for the host and the four judges award winners, at each qualifier. The top winner from each qualifier will compete in the August finals, for prize packages that will include cash!

The June contest drew in 10 contestants, but with no-shows and cosplayers that couldn’t make the live stream, we had seven competitors. They all submitted photos and information about thew process of making their costumes in advance, but the quality was so high that the three judges still took about 20 minutes to come to a final decision. The judges were Gogo Incognito, treatzcosplay, and Bryan Doell’s Character Lab. The host for the evening was the amazing Boston’s Deadpool.

The results were:

1st Place = ledoux_cosplay as Sylvanus

Runner-up and a Judge’s Award = Mink the Satyr Cosplay as Toothless

Photo credit = tati.style on Instagram.

Host Award = Mearl Crumley as Dark Helmet

Mearl, left, made the costume for Angela, as Dark Helmet.

Judge’s Award = Avera Cosplay as Ysera, based on a Zach Fischer design.

Judge’s Award = christopherlavallee as Iron Cyberman
