Tony Stark Retrospective Gallery On National Inventors Day

Today is National Inventors Day, and there are plenty of people in nerd fandoms that could have been chosen to represent that day. But there are very few people who actually have made their fame and living from inventing in both comics and movie versions like Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.

Certainly others would fit the bill to some extent — Peter Parker in the past decade, Reed Richards pretty much from the get-go, Bruce Wayne depending on the Batman writer, or Riri Williams from her dorm room at MIT. But none of them are known specifically as an inventor, aside from Reed Richards, and his inventions have never been how he makes a living. So Tony was the best choice.

In this gallery are a lot of photo of the same cosplayers, but to their credit, they mix up the costume or Iron Man suit from con to con or year to year. Kyle, The Uncontrollable Iron Man Cosplay, has made a point of making just about every version of the Iron Man suits that have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since each one is a different design, they are essentially a brand new cosplay each time. Then there is Bil, from the podcast This Week Was Way Better Last Year, who cosplays as Tony Stark without a full suit of armor. Each version, while similar, has enough differences to qualify for new photos almost every time I see him.

Cosplayers in this gallery also include Extreme Costumes, Planet Ruby, jaymichaellee, Powers Family CozPlay, sithcamaro, and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
