Walking Dead Cosplay Retrospective On News The TV Series Is Ending

On Sept. 9, the network AMC announced that the 11th season of The Walking Dead, due in 2022, would be the last season of the show. After 10 seasons, the departures of Andrew Lincoln as lead character Rick Grimes, Chandler Riggs as his son Carl, and even Danai Gurira as fan favorite Michonne has taken the wind out of the show’s sails. But fear not, devoted fans: In addition to the existing spinoff series Fear The Walking Dead and the upcoming YA series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, in 2023 we get a spinoff series featuring the best murder-out-of-love couple ever, Carol and Daryl.

AMC is so committed to the overall franchise that it even has a trio of full-length movies in the works starring Lincoln and focusing on Rick Grimes. In the face of that kind of dedication, how could we do anything less than pull together a gallery of well more than 100 images of cosplayers portraying characters from the series? In tracking down these photos I’ve taken of the years, I realized I completely forget about just how many Negan cosplayers there were at Wizard World Philadelphia 2017, including the hilarious Darth Negan mashup. Also faded from my memory was Jimi Halfdead (of the band The Negans, of course) in his Negan-Harley Quinn mashup, and possibly the best thing to come out of Northeast Comic Con, the mashup of Negan and Louise from Bob’s Burgers.

The unnamed Carol and Daryl show won’t happen for three years, but The Walking Dead: World Beyond with its focus on the first generation of children born after the zombie apocalypse premiers in just a few weeks, Oct. 4.

Cosplayer in this gallery include itsallnegan, Clillith cosplay, cubseidl, miserbilality, Mr.TUSA-Team, Koi Fish Asylum, chelseabrickham, hailiumworkshop, Cecil Grimes Cosplay (the link image below – that’s not Andrew Lincoln), and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
