The long-running and spectacularly nerdy Boston convention Arisia was held at the Westin Waterfront this past weekend. Despite the weather’s crazy mood swings, the con was its usual self, full of science fiction, fantasy and steampunk fans.

Well, maybe not as full as in the previous few years, something noticed by many attendees and staff I talked to. The best possible explanation I heard was that the Westin had five floors under construction, and the four-day Arisia is very much an in-hotel con. Even with a slew of hotel options within walking distance of the Westin, the theory goes that fewer people wanted to brave the Boston waterfront winter if they couldn’t stay in the actual convention hotel.

Still, Friday evening was busy enough to generate a gallery’s worth of cosplay images taken at the table we had set up to promote this July’s Cosplay And Photography Expo.

Among the cosplayers in this gallery are Everyone’s Hero CosplayJust In CosplayBostonTotoromakeupmermaid22zhengxietyblackrabbitproEllyStar CosplayLvl1kat, and many more.

Photo gallery tips: Once the page loads the images, you will see the Forward and Back navigation arrows above the image, in case you want to scroll faster than the preset. And to see the entire gallery as thumbnails, click on the gray four-box square next to the navigation arrows.
