The Dealers Room and Artist Alley opened at noon on Friday of Anime Boston 2026, so they stayed open until 8 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. as they would do on Saturday. But once the line to get into the Yoko Kanno concert filed into the main theater at 6:30 p.m., the second-floor hallway was almost empty. So, I decided to pack things up at 7:30 p.m., and was just starting to turn off the flashes when I heard someone behind me say, “You can’t take one more picture?”

I turned around ready to hold my ground, but as soon as I saw it was a dad cosplaying as All-Might with kids cosplaying as Toga and Eri from My Hero Academia. I quickly said. “How evil would I be to say no to a couple of kids?” and they became the last shots of Friday.

The gallery started out strong, however, with senpaim00n as a gorgeous take on Howl, Mizu from Blue Eye Samurai, and the witch that started Coco on her desire to be a witch herself from Witch Hat Atelier. And while I was jazzed to see lostsanitycosplays as a sexy bunny version of Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3, it was the Bocchi from Bocchi the Rock that I really squeed over. Turns out, the cosplayer is actually a bass player IRL and bought the pretty accurate-looking guitar (cheap and broken) from Guitar Center even before she had seen the anime.

I mentioned before that I am really into obscure looks, and when I saw the Fern and Stark cosplayers walk by in the formal ball dance outfits shown in just one segment of one episode of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, I practically threw out a knee jumping out of my chair to go after them. I don’t shoot on-location featured sets anymore, but I really wanted to find one of the empty ballrooms in the Hynes or the Sheraton and take dozens of ballroom dance photos of the two of them.

Cosplayers in the last of three Friday galleries include senpaim00n, shanmach17, nisky808, hector_cosplays, luvli_grl, _cjstine_, lostsanitycosplays, kirirosecosplay, Allayed Cosplay, lindadevastation, soul1.maker, x.andrewmaher, zimmermanjoe21, hambobman, lovelessxspirit, andywarpop, atopderekmountain, and many more.
