As you’ll see in the gallery linked below — the first of four galleries from Saturday at Anime Boston 2026 — I did bring in the flash to replace the one that blew up Friday morning, and for some reason I thought a deep orange fill light would look good. Definitely should have gone with blue. Also, even though the octobox on the flash had a grid and was aimed away from the wall, I still got some orange light spill on the white wall.

Luckily the batteries on that flash died early afternoon and I never replaced them, giving up on the idea of a fill light. Next year I will either bring a backdrop or use two fill flashes to turn the white wall into a type of cyclorama wall.

Saturday morning continued the trend from PAX East of seeing cosplay friends I haven’t seen in years. First was mr15valor as Noel Noa from Blue Lock, and shortly thereafter sararichardart as a gorgeous take on Alastor from Hazbin Hotel. And it was great that right after her was another of the original three Human Sushi Cosplay members, hsc_abby, as a gijinka version of the Japanese sweet yomogi from special guest Sakizo‘s artbook Delicious Girls.

One of the best things about Saturday was that working the table next to mine was the legend Pat Covey, promoting Granite State Comicon and Double Midnight Comics. In addition to running the cosplay contests and afterparty for Granitecon, Covey runs all of the cosplay contests for Fan Expo in every location in North America, and aside from being a great resource for connecting with cosplayers, is just one the best people in the convention business.

Cosplayers in this first of four Saturday galleries include reapinganomaly, ladysiaori, strangely_khaotic, frictusofficial, samshaw548, monarchs_devil, Metallic Moon Cosplay, mr15valor, graniteeater, sararichardart, hsc_abby, colossal.manatee, thejustincosplay, nathanharthodgson, jacky.ha.313, hs_cosplayers, raphael_cosplay, andywarpop, reddahliacosplay, spinning.sparky, salems.he.art, harleyharhar, senpaim00n, and many more.
