You Should Go-Go Play Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid

As a 30-something adult male, I shamelessly admit that I followed the Power Rangers franchise well past the point when it was socially acceptable to do so. For the sake of what little dignity remains after that declaration, I won’t go into greater detail, but I will say that I know way too much about it and its source material Super Sentai.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid has next to nothing to do with Super Sentai, so rejoice in the fact that you won’t have to listen to any tangents that I would usually go off on.

This game borrows heavily from the Saban-era canon, and the epically popular Boom! Studios series (which I highly recommend). It was developed by nWay Games, which also released Power Rangers: Legacy Wars for Android and IOS, which garnered positive reviews.

Combat looks smooth and fluid.

Though Battle for the Grid was released in 2019, this title has had a very meaty season pass, bringing the likes of characters like Doggie Kruger and the Quantum Ranger. And most recently a fan favorite has been added, Scorpina!

As for gameplay, the controls are very intuitive and Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid  is very accessible for all skill levels, which is perfect for a lifelong button masher like me.

I had zero problems with the online aspects of the game, and while the AI can be punishing, it never goes from Smash to SNK with its level spikes.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a very fun pick up and play title, and I highly recommend the collector’s edition if you are a diehard fan. I give Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid for PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, PC, and Nintendo Switch a 4 out of 5.
