This week we’re coming at you live (well, as live as a pre-written article can be) from MAGFest 2016! I have taken an exciting pass through the Indie Videogame Showcase to see what’s brewing in developers’ minds this year. This is a comprehensive list of as many titles as I could check out!

(Note: I’ve chosen to omit any titles that I have reviewed or included in the past. Please check out previous Indie Spotlights for more awesome games!)

Eruption (UC Santa Cruz Center)
You play as a volcano, and your goal is to burn, melt and destroy as many things on your island as possible! It’s a free download through the link.

Rollin’ (Tyler Gregg)
Enjoy the classic Marble Madness gameplay as a race with friends! This is a multiplayer race which can be played with a phone or tablet as your controller.

Seafoam Empress (Sky Tyrannosaur Games)
This is a 2D Metroidvania adventure of a mermaid known as Athena, fighting to reclaim her throne. Summon monsters to aid you as you explore an underwater world with almost no limitations.

Harvested (Vashta Entertainment)
Gather materials and build defenses by day, then fight off waves of enemies at night in this real-time strategy game.

Legacy of the Elder Star (Kickbomb Entertainment)
Take on a mouse-driven shoot-em-up where you can customize your space explorer to blast, dash and charge your way through waves of mobs!

Combat Core (MABManZ)
This mixes the polygonal graphics of Tekken (with a modern polish) with a free-range arena combat system! It rocks a colorful anime style and is a Kickstarter Staff Pick!

Read Only Memories (MidBoss LLC)
This is a cyberpunk exploration and puzzle game that sports retro pixel art scenes and menus for an interactive narrative — available now!

Heroes Guard: The Journal (Under Byte Studios)
Each randomly generated playthrough is a choice-driven narrative that utilizes tabletop mechanics (dice rolling and a card-based mini-game) to put your hero through the test in saving your lands. (The card game may come in standalone physical form in the future!)

Desolus (Mark Mayers)
This is a 3D puzzle game making use of black holes to absorb energy and unlock new secrets. It’s also Oculus Rift compatible!

Respawn Man (Solid Plasma)
Dying is part of the equation! Use your previous lives to literally pave the way around levels to avoid spikes and reach higher grounds.

Camelot Unchained (City State Entertainment)
Dubbed the #1 MMORPG Kickstarter of all time, this massive title focuses on a 3-sided realm with open warfare. It lives with a player-driven economy, horizontal leveling (craft your own skills) and takes physics and chemistry to new levels! (Ed. The feature photo above.)

Galactose: Pastries in Space (Zero Eden Games)
Turn your favorite baked treats into deadly spaceships and explore the stars!

New Space (Fusion Bunny)
This is a scrolling shoot-em-up that you can play in 3D, top-down or isometric modes!

Ookibloks (Skyboy Games)
Send a monkey jumping through stages, collecting bananas and maximizing your score with optimal moves!

Blade Ballet (DreamSail Games)
Go head to head with your friends in arena deathmatch! Choose from a unique array of robot fighters and take ’em out!

Mister Mart (Studio 217 Games)
This is an Oculus Rift game that puts you in the shoes of a head cashier at a really bad grocery store. Take return items and slap customers to keep yourself from stressing out and going crazy!

Circles (Studio 217 Games)
Think of the classic floor game Twister on a tablet. Three to ten players place a finger in a circle, and it’s up to you to stay within your circle the longest!

Prisma (Shiny Bolt Games)
Here’s a puzzle platformer that requires shifting between different colors to interact with your environment. Can you make it to the end!?

Roguemon (Burger Circus LLC)
Enjoy traditional Pokémon gameplay, but with very unusual, raunchy and/or disgusting creatures.

Lost Cave (Ganglyfish)
Explore as a lost wanderer through an unknown cave. Like Fez, your angle of perception alters how you interact with your surroundings.

Happy Dude and the Black-White Game (James Covenant)
This is a cool puzzle game where your blocky little hero shifts between black and white, and you can only interact with objects of the same color!

The Old Mill (Shademare)
This is a precision wind gliding platformer! Help a child with a scarf fly along and make it home.

Midboss (Kitsune Games)
This is a roguelike dungeon crawler where you, a lowly imp, can fight and possess larger creatures, learn their powers and become the ultimate monster!

SpaceCats in Space! (Robotic Potato)
This is a twinstick shooter where space cats do everything they can to destroy space dogs! For, well, no real reason. We’re cats. They’re dogs. DO IT.

Canari (Pixelbot Games)
You control a mining robot (twinstick style) through procedurally generated caverns, collecting materials and keeping your power source fed. Don’t run out!

Defragmented (Glass Knuckle Games)
This is a top-down cyberpunk action RPG with guns, energy devices and a sweet futuristic vibe!
