Dragon Con 2026 Gallery By Spectra_V3 Part 1
Fresh off of his role as a convention photographer for AnimeNYC, Jibrii of spectra_v3 stepped into that same role for us at Dragon Con this year. It’s been a while since we had anybody taking photos for us at the Atlanta-based massive convention, so I was very happy when he expressed an interest in doing so.
Dragon Con is one of the premier conventions for cosplay in the U.S., along with Katsucon and the two titans, San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con. To be fair, it is also one of the premier conventions for just about anything nerdy, with weekend-long tracks on science fiction or fantasy books and movies, tabletop game tournaments and just about anything you want to do at a nerd-focused convention.
Holding Dragon Con every Labor Day weekend does present two challenges. The first is the obvious one — Atlanta in late summer can still be ridiculously hot. While most of the activity is held in three hotels connected by skybridges, some of the cosplay activity, such as the large group photoshoots, happens outside. I’ve been out in that heat taking photos of the groups myself, and while it was never oppressive, it sure was hot.
The second challenge is that PAX West is the same weekend, in almost the opposite corner of the country, Seattle. The overlap of potential attendees, given the geographic separation, is probably not high, but definitely not zero.
The gallery linked below is the first of four from the four-day convention. Jibrii didn’t break them down by day like we usually do, so I am just breaking them down into four blocks of more than 100 photos each.
