Arisia 2020 Gallery Friday-Saturday Part 1

The old school science fiction and fantasy convention Arisia returned to the Westin Boston Waterfront this past weekend after a year away at the downtown hotel the Park Plaza. The reasons for the move, the expensive problems that move created for Arisia and the issues with how it handled (or didn’t, more accurately) assault allegations against now-banned staff, are too long to go into here, but can be explored here and here.

Perhaps because of all of those things, and perhaps because of the advance warning of a snowstorm hitting late Saturday, attendance at this year’s con seemed much lower than 2018, the last year it was at the Westin. I very rarely had to wait to take a cosplay photo this year because of a massive surge of people getting out of one the nearby panel rooms, something that was common on Saturday and Sunday in previous years. And the number of photos I took this year is lower than normal, despite manning our table for all four days.

Oh, yeah, we had a table promoting this summer’s Cosplay And Photography Expo, to be held July 18-19 in Mansfield, Mass. We’ve had a table at most Arisia conventions for the past few years and it is always a good boost for awareness of our educational and fun con.

Since I only took about a dozen photos on the very slow Friday afternoon and evening, I am combining that with the first gallery of Saturday photos. Among the cosplayers in this gallery are Glassarrow Cosplay, faerieprincen, villainamous, Elfling Unlimited, Ask Kaylee Frye, lorendacosplayer, Petry Cosplays, remathelovely, blue_moch1, swarmed_dodo, deerprincesscosplay, valpal.cosplay, saurianwarriorcosplay, Colonial Armory, redwallet, and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
