Emma Frost Retrospective Cosplay Gallery

Today is Maple Syrup Saturday, one of those industry specific non-holidays designed to promote the awareness and consumption of the product in question. It is recognized in most maple syrup-producing states in the US (although being contrarian, Maine has Maine Maple Sunday which is next Sunday, March 27).

While most people think of Canada as the home of maple syrup — it does have the world’s only national emergency stockpile of the stuff — I grew up in New England, living at times in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. So, maple syrup has always been just a local product for me. And besides, I’ve already done a retrospective gallery of Canada’s most famous nerd creation, Wolverine. That’s why I decided to pick images of cosplayers portraying a character from New England.

Alas, that really reduced my options. Neither Vermont nor New Hampshire has any comic book characters from there as part of their fictional biographies. Maine has M.O.D.O.K., a Bangor native, and Connecticut has a few, the most famous of which is Reed Richards. But I’ve only taken photos of one M.O.D.O.K. cosplayer (who was amazing) and surprisingly only a few of Mr. Fantastic. Rhode Island has a couple of minor G.I. Joe characters as far as I could find. Aside from Massachusetts, all added up I still couldn’t get enough photos for a gallery. So, the Bay State it is.

That gave me two residents of Boston to pick from — Carol Danvers or Emma Frost. I’ve already done a gallery of Captain Marvel cosplay, so The White Queen it was. Now, I don’t associate messy maple syrup with the elegant and frosty White Queen, but that’s my logic for presenting this gallery, thin as it is.

Cosplayers in this gallery include Jessica Mercy, Nicole Marie Jean, Lunsum, Brandon the Shapeshifter, BelleChere, Candy Valentina, lexao95, alaina318, nataliakozi, and many more.

We now use Smugmug to present cosplay photo galleries and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
