It was 3 p.m. on Sunday at Anime Boston 2026 when the convention closed up the Dealers Room and Artist Alley, as is the usual case. The final event was the closing ceremony, which started at 3 and ran to 4 p.m. Not as well attended as either the concerts or the masquerade, it still had a queue line that stretched down the hallway past my end-of-the-row table.

The flow of cosplayers, already typically slow on a Sunday, became a trickle. So, I went to the nearby food stall to get another set of the hot dogs I had yesterday, but they were out so I grabbed a cheeseburger. While a bit dry, it was, as they always have been, surprisingly tasty. Still, I reiterate my call from a previous article that it would be great if the Hynes Convention Center could incorporate some form of food court like its sister facility, the MCEC does.

All throughout the three days of the con, I heard various reports about crowd sizes being anywhere from about the same as the previous year to slightly diminished to noticeably smaller. All told, I took almost exactly the same number of cosplayer photos at Anime Boston 2026 as the previous year. Slightly more on Friday, almost exactly the same on Saturday and slightly less on Sunday, but not enough of a difference to change the number of galleries from each day compared to 2025.

After the convention, most of the posts I saw on social media said that the convention was at least as enjoyable as previous years, with some calling it one the best they’ve been to and some commenting on the lack of any real problems or challenges (like last year’s broken sprinkler pipe in the registration room at the Sheraton).

Next year Anime Boston will again make a rare change away from Easter weekend to Memorial Day weekend, moving to May 28-20.
