Costume-Con 37 Costume Gallery, Part 1
I wasn’t planning to attend Costume-Con 37 this past weekend, even though it was one of the few times the travelling convention was in New England. But when I got a message from Dina at Cloak & Dagger Creations saying they were in a pickle and could use my help, I couldn’t say no. Turns out the person who was to run two panels on costuming and photography — a good friend of mine and Nerd Caliber’s — was ill and couldn’t make it.
To help out, I stepped in and ran a panel on Photography and Costumes on Friday, and one on Posing for Costumers on Saturday with the wonderful (and ridiculously talented) Janet Catherine Johnston, with great help from Bombeii Cosplay and Photography as our posing model.
The convention was held this year at the Doubletree by Hilton in Danvers, Mass., the site of the CoCo Key Water Park. The hotel has more panel and event rooms than you can shake a stick at, and Costume-Con used nearly all of them. I eventually set up in the Starbucks snack nook, as it is open to the main hallway right past the front desk, and therefore the path between the panel rooms and vendor area, and the ballroom were the big events were held.
This year we have started a new way to present cosplay photo galleries. We have a Smugmug account and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to save money on hosting storage, and give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
