Costume-Con 37 Costume Gallery, Part 2
The name Costume-Con 37 makes it clear that this event has been around for a very long time. In that it has traveled around the world. Last year it was in San Diego, Calif., and next year it will be in Montreal. In 2017 it was held in Melbourne, Australia. But it is not like a comic con or anime con — there are no celebrities except for those people well known in the costuming field. It is in a sense much more like our own Cosplay And Photography Expo — lots of instructional panels and events.
Unlike our CAPE, Costume-Con has competitions — lots of them. There are masquerades every day, from the general one on Saturday, to the historical costume masquerade on Sunday, and one of the most interesting, the Single Pattern challenge. In that one every participant must make their own costume design based on the same pattern.
This year we have started a new way to present cosplay photo galleries. We have a Smugmug account and will post all photos there, with a link to each gallery in its own gallery article. This will allow us to save money on hosting storage, and give you higher resolution images to download — still for free.
